Our annual combination pick-up game/crab-feast/picnic returns Sunday, August 18 from 11 a.m. until dark at the Catonsville Community Park (a.k.a. The Senior Center).
Pick-up starts around 11 a.m. and the picnicking starts around 1-ish. Silly games start soon after that. All CMUA members (active or inactive or retired) are invited!
CMUA will provide the drinks (beer & soda) and the crabs and the corn. Players should bring a white and a dark t-shirt, and something to grill if they’re not into crabs. Please note there is no rain date for the crab feast
CMUA and WAFC are looking for volunteers for the Chesapeake Open 2019 on August 10th and 11th at the Maryland Soccerplex in Boyds, MD. We need volunteers to assist with setting up and breaking down fields, filling water jugs, collecting scores, and other tasks related to running the tournament.
If you’re available, please contact Kevin Baker (firstname.lastname@example.org). It’s not required nor expected that you have to work both days of the tournament; time shifts are available if you can’t come for an entire day as well.
Are you interested in helping shape the future of the Central Maryland Ultimate Association? Please consider nominating yourself for a position on the Board of Directors!

Clique League Registration
At the February Board of Directors Meeting, the CMUA Board voted unanimously to move the election from its traditional May date to July.
The following changes were included in a proposal brought to the Board by At-Large Member Tim Gelles:
- Modify term length from its current calendar of June 1–May 31 to August 1–July 31.
- Extend current terms to July 31 for the expiring board term.
- Request nominations starting on or around June 15, require nominations be due by June 28.
- Move the election duration from May 1–15 to July 1–14. Inform Community of candidates on July 1.
- Announce winners on or around July 15
- Introduce new board members, if they’re available, at annual crab feast (usually held the first or second Sunday in August)
To prevent a lapse of duties, outgoing board members whose term end on August 1 are still required to complete any assigned responsibilities (e.g. Crab Feast) or commissioning (e.g. Monday Night, Clique League) that are outstanding after August 1, but are not required to complete them if assignments are still outstanding after August 15.
Summer Mixed League Captain Recruitment
Players interested in captaining a team for this summer’s Mixed League should email Kevin Baker.
Captains will be selected by the board of directors with input from the league commissioners. The board will prioritize mixed gender captains.
Factors taken into consideration: experience captaining, feedback received from previous years, and commitment to the mission.
Responsibilities include weekly emails, serving as the liaison between your team and the league commissioner, and ensuring equal playing time and overall positive experience.
